Personal Philosophy of Gifted |
Giftedness refers to students who demonstrate above average abilities. Gifted students often score high on aptitude tests, including IQ tests. In addition, students who are gifted are highly creative and highly imaginative. These students are extremely curious and are skilled critical thinkers. Gifted students are task-oriented and can remain focused on a task that interests them for an extended period of time. They also demonstrate strong leadership skills and an advanced sense of humor. Giftedness is present throughout all cultural and economic groups.
Due to a gifted learner’s unique needs, it is important that these types of students are provided with personalized support in the classroom. This could be through adjusting the curriculum and/or school environment to fit the needs of these learners. |
